From the Hurlbut genealogy by Henry Higgins Hurlbut, 1888. In 1835, Ira went west and located in that part of the town of Racine, Wis (since Mt. Pleasant) and his was the third family settled int he town. Ira it is understood was a man of great energy, "tall, lean and of a light complexion".
