Note: Amelia was staunchly for prohibition, and would lecture the family frequently about the perils of drink and the dangerous nature of their behavior around their kids. This story is shared from her brother Art's descendants, who say that she would storm into the house and shout at everyone. Art kept a bottle of gin in his garage and he was angry after one such incident and went out to take a swig, accidentally grabbing a bottle of turpentine. He corrected his error with two swigs of gin and suffered no ill effects. Art and Amelia's husband Clarence were good friends and would drink and go fishing together.
